Here are things to keep in mind when setting healthy boundaries:
1. KNOW YOUR LIMITS.
Pay attention to how you feel in a given situation. Any uncomfortable feelings may point to a boundary that needs to be set.
2. MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF.
Prioritize self-care and reflection.
3. CHANGE YOUR ROLE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS.
Your routine behaviors may be encouraging unhealthy behaviors from others. Changing your role in your relationships can help you prioritize yourself against burnout.
4. DON'T BE AFRAID TO SAY "NO".
It can be easy to fall into a habit of doing things at your own expense. But prioritizing your self-care may mean saying "no" when it becomes too much.
5. COMMUNICATE YOUR NEEDS.
Sometimes people give unwanted advice in an effort to help, when what you need is a listening ear. Clearly communicate your needs with your loved ones to encourage behavioral change.
6.MAINTAIN YOUR BOUNDARIES!
Don't forget to continually communicate your boundaries! In instances of violation, remind your loved ones of your needs. Never accept behaviors that cross your boundary line.
